Karlovy Vary
Karlovy Vary is the largest and best-known Czech spa town, founded by Charles IV (Roman Emperor) more than 600 years ago. The spa is attractively located in the valley of the Teplá (Warm) river and is famous for its 12 springs. The most productive of them is the “Vřídlo”, with temperature of 72,2 degrees Celsius. Karlovy Vary is visited by guests from more than 80 countries of the world.
The guests come to Karlovy Vary for health, rest, amusement and information: International congresses, meetings of famous V.I.P.’s from the world of politics, science and culture, Film Festival and Jazz Festival – take place annually. The town is known as well for its production of excellent fine china porcelain, glass, tasty wafers and the herb liqueur Becherovka. The golf course in Karlovy Vary ranks among the oldest and most beautiful in the Czech Republic and, perhaps, in Europe. The 18-hole golf course built in 1933 is 6,226 m long and par 72.
