The region is well known for its spas -
Karlovy Vary,
Mariánské Lázně and Františkovy Lázně, which, on account of their proximity to each other, have made this region known as the "spa triangle". The curing waters of the mineral springs have been famous for many centuries, but these spas have also become attractive to tourists because of their colonnades, sanatoria, parks and cultural institutions. The excellent "Moser" Bohemian glass and porcelain from Karlovy Vary are exported to all parts of the world. There are also numerous places of natural beauty, for example, the peat bogs and small mountain lakes. Near Františkovy Lázně, there are two interesting Natural Reserves - Komorní h¨rka and Soos. These West Bohemian spas have been admired by many prominent persons, among them J. W. Goethe, L. van Beethoven, F. Chopin, M. Twain and R. Kipling. The region is also known as "Goethe's love"- having stayed here several times, he spent over three years in West Bohemia, which is longer than his stay in Italy. It is also a land where both body and soul are healed. The spas in West Bohemia, the "Land of Health", have for centuries been the place where generations of patients have sought care. For spa stay ask specialised catalogue "Health & Wellness, Czech Spas".
Besides the spas, there are other places well worth visiting in West Bohemia. There is Plzeň, home to the world-famous beer Pilsner Urquell, Cheb with its beautiful medieval centre with "Špalíček" (Stockl) and the town Domažlice, and Chodsko, an area with its own folklore and picturesque folk architecture.
